Liberty has decent snow on many runs still - just not all runs. They blew things fairly deep compared to Whitetail and Roundtop.
You'd be amazed at what's still up at the 'nut.

Not worth an hour drive, but if passing Harrisonburg, cuban burger is a good stop for a cubano.food/beer
I'll be at one of the SkiLittle3 on Sunday. I can't do Saturday.Planning to head to Whitetail tomorrow for at least the morning... anyone else going to be out there?
I'd usually skip Saturday and go Sunday, but can't make it Sunday, and I'm itching to get back on skis after a couple of weeks...
Skied at Winterplace in WV yesterday. Drove up to Princeton WV to stay overnight on Tuesday, stayed at the Turnpike Motel...cheap and decent. Good breakfast at Dolly's Diner just down the street. Made the decision to got to Winterplace as the drive time was about the same as going to Beech, which was my other consideration. Drive was OK except 77 north of 81 had a TON of truck traffic...but not much at all on the drive home.
First time impressions: conditions were good, plenty of snow on the slopes except for one spot on Turkey Chute. First impression riding up the lift over the green/blue runs was the runs just kind of went every which-way. After a half-dozen runs there and a quick bathroom and refreshment break, I went over to the lift by the Mountainhouse. That's a great little pod of blue and black runs. Spent the rest of the day over there. The only negative part of the experience is they had exactly ONE person selling all the lift tickets, rentals, ski-school etc. Had one group of about 10 people that took the person about 20 minutes to take care of. On the plus side, compared to the NC ski areas, the parking lot and lodge are on level ground, so you don't have a hill to walk up or down.
The short run down from the lodge was total mashed potatoes by 2 pm, and there were a lot of "grabby" spots elsewhere...good time to call it a day.
Diagonal ruts! I can remember the first year Turkey Chute opened, it had stumps and bumps on it. A lot of fond memories and some crazy stories about our adventures at WP.Did the Turkey have the diaganol rut moguls ? A charming characteristic !
Nah, no moguls to be found except for some vestigal ones on snowbowl...Did the Turkey have the diaganol rut moguls ? A charming characteristic !
