Bought their early episodes, they don't really teach you much to be honest, it's more of seeing how the better skiers ski and what are some of their thoughts. You need an analytical mind to get anything out of it. I'm happy with these. The new rental only format, meh, if that's the direction they are headed I'm done.

I love it. Great skiing, some good explanations and ideas - gives me some insight into how they think, how they see skiing and what they're working on. It's not often you see these together.

It is also good to see the differences in skiing and relate that to the individual explanations.

Not sure about the new membership format. It depends how long they can keep cranking out useful videos, I guess. Everyone these day is trying to create a recurring revenue model... hopefully it works for them. I would not really mind paying 10$/mth for weekly info - maybe articles as well, not just videos - those take more effort.

They are great skier, but I think Patreon is much better way to get support with out charging everyone.

In fact if I were to start taking the youtube instructional video seriously that is the route I would go.

I have all three videos from Projected they all are excellent visualizations of expert skiing. I think they are geared more toward intermediate and above skiers. I also have the videos from https://skierlab.com/product-category/piste-to-peak-ski-performance-series/ Skier lab (Section 8) . More balanced approach with nice visual representations and detailed explanations of the drills and movements. Based on the Canadian system. If you don't have them you should check it out at the link above.

My thoughts on the first two "feature videos" are here,

https://pugski.com/threads/advanced-technique-videos.7013/page-3#post-166253

Long story short, they are instructional videos. As such, great listening to different perspectives of high level instructors, what they think, visualize, and feel. Also, if one is an instructor, excellent examples of how to instruct - progressions, cues, demonstrations, etc.

I just watched the Projected Productions 'How To Ski' series on Vimeo. Great videos! My only question is why doesn't anyone in these videos bend the brim of their hat? Are they going to return them to the store?

I am an avid follower of Projected productions. Read a lot of the comments. My two cents. I have all of their videos and have watched their short presentations. Recently signed on for "Legacy" part 1. Prefer buying the vids since I don't have reliable wi-fi where I live. Northern Idaho! I have found the 4 movies very helpful. I am a level three PSIA instructor with many clinics and miles on skis. Having all these different high level instructors is great. They all share their thoughts and different perspectives. The descriptions are really valuable. Thinking of Paul's discussions of turning like bouncing from mini trampoline set at 45 degree angle to the other side with the same. Also JP with his drop description. Many more. They have helped me immeasurably. Exercises are very good at giving you a feel for what they are discussing. Paul does a great job in legacy. It's the cheapest coaching you're ever going to get. Next time I do Japan I'm going to get together with Paul and Riley. JP I'd like to get together with you but it's a long way from northern Idaho to Mt. St Anne. Highly recommend their videos.

I like the videos! Good balance of showing and analytically explaining the underlying movements. Not keen on the subscription model, but it is still reasonably priced. Only through my admiration for Richie Berger I found the Projected team. But even aside from Berger all the skiers are fantastic.

Those PP vids provide incredible insights into the skiing of some of the best in the world at their type of skiing. Lorenz, McGlashan, Berger, JFB, Takao and many others. If you like the skiing they showcase in their free vids and want to understand some more of how they do it then why not invest $10 for a one month trial?

At worst you'll see some great ski porn for your $10. Everything else is upside.

I also recommend Section 8 Piste to Peak vid series.

Adding to my previous post, I just wished they did offer more off-piste or moguls videos. I think there are only two off-piste segments and nothing on moguls!

^^ Yep, I wish they would too.

In that absence there are other edu vids on moguls. What's good depends on the style of bump skiing aspired to.

For anyone who wants to utilise 'ski instructor bump technique' (for want of a betterterm) then Section 8's Piste to Peak Vol 2 The Lost Art of Slushy Bumps, Icy Bumps & Everything In Between is very good. It covers skills needed in fore-aft, pressure management, rotational, lateral, timing and co-ordination with a large array of relevant drills to build turning versatility. There's also excellent tactics for specific bump conditions likely to be encountered, and even dryland training drills.

There's apparently a new vid about to be released by another excellent instructor style bump skier. Mogul lesson for skiing big bumps- coming soon

I hunk their videos are superb. Great visuals of excellent skiing. Great drills and cues. Great for both non-instructors and instructors.

would not really mind paying 10$/mth

$10 Australian

Great example. And the movies, wow.

I recently asked about buying the recently released movie, Legacy, on Vimeo, rather than subscribing. I got this reply.

“Thanks for you email. We have priced the subscription at A9.99 per month which gives access to the entire library including LEGACY. When we were using Vimeo, a feature length title such as LEGACY would have been A$25-30. So in actual fact you're saving if you only sign up for a month. However we understand that the situation isn't ideal. (Since I already purchased three movies and three shorts on Vimeo)

Unfortunately Projected is going through difficult times and without having more control over the videos, Projected may not be able to afford to continue. The Vimeo platform has allowed sharing of the videos and also is rather difficult to use and find Projected. (Very true. Hard to find them on Vimeo)

Anyway thank you for your understanding and I hope you choose to watch the new LEGACY video.”

I hope they can continue. I am subscribing.

The thought came to mind that it would be nice if they would do a “screening”, then make themselves available for a Q & A session. Do it all online.

Next time I do Japan I'm going to get together with Paul and Riley. JP I'd like to get together with you but it's a long way from northern Idaho to Mt. St Anne.

They have camps in Austria and Australia. Not Japan, nor Canada though. I suppose those would have to be private bookings.
