I remember watching Warren Miller films in the Stowe town hall, and Warren Miller standing by the screen , narrating them live

I remember when:
It was cool to leave your lift ticket/wicket on your jacket. The really cool kids have LOTS of tickets
My skis had a safety strap(before brakes). If you fell they would windmill and beat you up before you slid to a stop

I remember when Warren Miller was doing a lot of his own filming. Had a big black clothe sack he would put over himself to change film in the cameras.
Remember when Mach 1 was the meanest hill at Breck.

Ski shops played a cruel joke on skiers by using Rotamat heels and Sinplex toes mounted on their rentals
I rode the original tram at Cannon.
Rhode Island had 4 ski areas.
I went to the Balsams. +++
I would get up at 0400 hrs to do a day trip.
There were lively discussions over 50mm vs 75mm and waxless vs waxable nordic skis.
Skiing out west was just a dream.
Sliding on my keester down a 2000 foot frozen slip and slide serviced by a lift was the norm.
Newspaper snow reports always reported up to 100 inch bases in northern New England.
CB and Roffe were it.
The blue streak was a common sight.
Mt Snow had the fountain mountain.

I remember the first time I looked down Gorge at Crystal Mountain Michigan and said, "I'll never ski THAT!"
I wish my current self could go back in time and whisper in my former self's ear, "psst, you won't believe what you'll be doing 30 years from now"

*The Gorge is a steep(ish) bump run that is, maybe, 5 turns long.

I remember when Soloman invented a new way to size skis. ^ Those weren't measured in cm. Though everyone used a 200cm ski to check them.

Around the time Swatch invented a new way to tell time.
No one liked either...

Probably "Swatch Time" is in wikipedia.
"Power Level" probably isn't.

Before that, Salomon invented a new way to size boots, that didn't go over well either but that and the "Powerr Rating of skis, when you thought about it, really made sense. The boot sizing concentrated on the back half of the foot and the volume of the ankle. The PR of skis, I skied a PR8, the 1S Giant Slalom (pictured ) was about a 212, the 2S Round Turn Slalom was a 205, the 3S J-turn SL was about 202. The Mogul skis in a PR8 were basically the 2S and 3S, one size down. So the Force 3S PR8 was a Equipe 3S PR7.

Zero G was at Vernon Valley. Pipeline was the steep trail at Great Gorge North.:D
You most likely are correct, it is tough get old, the memory is not what it use to be and that is what this thread is all about. But did they merge the two mountains with a trail that connected the two areas?

Late to the party, but wow - I remember many of the things already listed!
Did anyone mention skiing in heavy corduroy knickers with even heavier wool socks that went up over the knee?!

No I do not think anyone said that but I remember a photo posted by an English gent with a vintage ski outfit that fits the description.

@Tominator I don't remember socks that went up over the knee, but I do remember skiing in Ragwool socks, usually worn to take up volume in boots that were too big.

212cm for a PR 8?? What's a 9?
And...did they go to 11?

Well the system makes sense- adjusting sizes for activity. But, if that's the point of it, they didn't educate people. But really, no one paid attention because they introduced some cockamammy system first. So that's all we heard. Why should we learn this new thing? What's wrong with the centimeter??

The boots made sense too but similar issue.

As I remember Swatch time made some sense- a number, no am/pm no adding from time zones as I recall. Sort of metric vs feet/inches. But... the center of time was Basel, Sui not Greenwich, Eng. Wtf? Sorry...you don't get to pull that one.

Don't recall that one. But I will say (unless Im wearing shorts) that in general I just have to wear all socks that go clear over my calf's and almost up to my knees.
Whether its for work or play, so long as no shorts my socks are all 'tube" socks and the highest ones I can find that surround my lower legs. I hate any other feeling. And even yes dress socks too. If im in a suit my black socks are almost to the knee. At 6'1" and size 12 are not so easy to find in good quality.
