Would you be interested in an annual Pugski Canada Gathering?

  • Great idea, eh? I live in Canada and we’ve got so much great skiing.

  • Awesome idea! I live in non-Canadian North America and I love powder without lift lines.

  • Makes sense, I live Down Under and going to Canada is just as easy as the States.

I know, I know, we held the Gathering at Whistler/Blackcomb last year. And there’s a lot of excitement about the SLC Gathering coming up this year.

That said, there are a lot of great places in Canada, which may get overlooked; with the typical Gathering process the annual selection will likely rotate among a few select areas (SLC, Aspen, Summit County, Big Sky, Jackson, Tahoe).

So I’m wondering if there are enough Canadian Pugsters (and non-Canadian Canada enthusiasts such as myself) to start an annual Canada Pugski Gathering. Same kind of experience, just more politeness in liftlines (should there actually be liftlines) and lots of Aussie and Kiwi accents.

I’m not necessarily proposing doing anything this year. A lot of people have made their destination trip plans already. I just thought it was worth exploring.

I don’t see why not. It’s really about finding consensus, right?

I could be amenable, YVR's a nice short flight across the big pond.

I think a Banff Spring Gathering in mid or late April would be ideal especially now that Sunshine Village and Lake Louise now offer 2 days each with a Mountain Collective Pass. These two areas have among the highest base elevation and best snow preservation in Canada, many other other ski resorts are closed in early April so it would be a ski season extender for many participants.

May we remind you that Steve Podborski's home club was Craigleith!! :D

Well yeah, he got very comfortable skiing on ice from an early age, just about any time he went free skiing.ogwink

I am not exaggerating here: every time at Sun Peaks when locals complain about "icy conditions" the skiers from Ontario break out in laughter.:roflmao:

I could see some really nice gathering potential especially if you make combo trips:

1. Silverstar, Apex, Sun Peaks (not sure how far away?)
2. Red and WH2O
3. Castle and Fernie
4. KH and Rev (I know some may not attend due to crappy lift layout ogsmile)
5. Late spring at LL/SSV sounds great as mentioned previously

I'd go even though I'm far away. I LOVE Canada!!!

I've done Silver Star and Sun Peaks from Kamloops! It's a drive, but that was also 1986.

since 86 big improvements on all hills, roads vehicles better. Very easy loops in most areas for variety.
best choice other than for "locals" just depends on where you want to start from.
if we are talking serious old school group road trip I can rent a magic bus.
