BlueZone Sports Lands Jim Fowler

BlueZone Sports is pleased to announce the addition of Jim Fowler to its staff. Jim is embarking on a new direction with BlueZone Sports, a vibrant retailer in the Tahoe/Reno area. He will serve as a buyer and sales trainer as this company grows and considers expansion into different markets.

With more than 30 years in the specialty ski business, Jim has done most jobs the industry has to offer. Early in his career, he was shop manager at Squaw Valley Sport Shop while also working as an instructor and race coach. During that time, Dynastar/Lange hired him to be a tuner and bootfitter at summer camps at Mt Hood. Dynastar then brought him on board as a sales associate in Northern California; in subsequent summers, he established the first ski company summer service center at Mt Hood. Jim’s career at Dynastar lasted more than 15 years as he progressed from sales associate to product development manager and eventually to Northern California territory sales manager.

After retiring from Dynastar to get off the road and go back into retail, Jim spent the past 12 years in two ski shops: Sierra Snowboard & Ski in Sacramento, and Start Haus in Truckee. In both cases, he served as the ski/boot buyer and was tasked with elevating ski and boot sales to new highs in the respective markets.

Through all his years in the ski business, Sierra Jim — as he is known in online ski communities — has had an innate ability to match any skier to the equipment that fits their needs the best. This ability has allowed his clients to have a more fulfilling experience on the snow. Now skiers will be able to find this information at BlueZone Sports.
